Our engine is a perkins perama 29 hp at 3600 rpm. Our reduction is 2.05:1 (Hurth HBW 50)

Hi Bob,

Welcome to SailNet.

You're best bet is to make a call to a professional. You can try these guys for starters.

There are a lot of factors here, not least of which is what type of propeller you are looking to buy.

Bob,

I googled the Barbican 33 to find the disp. (13.230 lbs) and LWL (27' 4") information that is also required for calculating propeller information, I also found out that although the boat has a propeller pocket is can turn one that's 16" diameter. My calculations are.....

16 x 11 - 2 blade
16 x 8 - 3 blade

The numbers are for a fixed propeller, either should make hull speed if the engine is healthy, the 3 blade will perform a little better than the 2 under power.

Get your local 'Prop Shop' to confirm this information, they will normally adjust FOC if the propeller does not perform to their calculations.
