Hi! First time sailor and boat owner here. Tried lowering the keel on my CS22 and the line slipped suddenly...loud thump and keel cable snapped. There doesn't appear to be any damage to the boat and I am ok being a fixed keel for the rest of the season.

How much trouble am I in? I'm pretty handy and think I can replace the cable after haul out. Looking for advice on where to get a replacement kit.

Please help a new sailor out!! Thanks!

I got mine from Catalina Direct. Make sure you replace the bronze wheel inside where the cable passes through the volcano. I was able to replace mine on the trailer, which is awkward but I just jacked it up, put some blocks under it and let the keel drop enough to access the fitting on the keel. After that it was less than an hour to complete the job.

Thank you. I'll check if a Catalina 22 kit will fit a CS. The boat is in the water right now so basically it's a fixed keel boat for this season! Am also thinking of amsteel instead of steel cable.
