Hey all,

Just bought a new dacron sail and am looking for some info on what type of decals will stick well. I contacted fastsigns and they weren't sure whether a vinyl decal would stick to a sail.

I know people put numbers and graphics on sails but don't know where they go or what type of decals these are. Any info would be appreciated.

I've seen colored dacron sewn on the sail and screen printed images.
The numbers on my mains'l was screen printed.

You might try going to a sailmaker and asking for 'insignia cloth', the sticky-back stuff they use to put numbers and logos on sails. Colors will be limited, not sure what you're trying to accomplish.

Don't use vinyl. The peel-and-stick Dacron works well. Its what the sailmakers use today.

The name of this stuff is called: "adhesive backed insignia cloth". Its a thin dacron 'taffeta' material.
