It would be rather helpful if you could tell us exactly what model engine you are talking about.

It describes the decompression lever, and has detailed instructions on bleeding the fuel system

I know it is a m20.,I'm on my way there to try to get part numbers before everywhere closes. I'll be making a list of part numbers to access remotely in the future

It would be useful to become familiar with your equipment before you drift broadside onto the beach. Eg, gas engines have chokes, diesels may have a decompresser .There may be other pertinent facts to learn.

I spent most of friday night replacing the filters and bleeding. I spoke with the P.O. on my way there and he said he never touched any of that.

After Replacing filters and bleeding, I turn the key and it starts without any problem at all.

Splendid! At the heart of the problem is the fact that the high pressure / dosing fuel pump can't tolerate the slightest amount of air in the fuel hence the reason there's a bleed screw on it.

I once had the same problem KMC had, never could get a decent seal on the filter again and replaced the racor unit, fixing the issue.
