Just a question to those who may know,

Are outboard diesels engines available in the 6 to 10 hp range?
Any feedback would be appreciated, cost etc.

My understanding is the biggest issue is noise levels are really high, but that Klaxon looks cool with being submersible:

Submersible: 66 feet/18 hours; start within 5 pulls
and the ever so convenient fact:

Fits through submarine hatch
cool stuff!

Plus too heavy for outboard and too hard to start.

I saw a big rib with a 25hp yanmar on it way back in 2001 in puerto vallarta...

they still sell them as I saw and ad for them on craisglist california a few months ago...

they have little portable diesel generators down here and they are popular,...dont see why a few extra pounds is such a deal killer...

I guess they arent tailored to small dinghies most sailors use but...

there is always propane

When it comes to diesel power engine, our choice sucks big time. :)
