I'm refurbishing an older 10ft. FG sailing/rowing dinghy. The hull is crazed and pitted and in generally poor shape (not the integrity of the hull--the problem is pretty much cosmetic). I'd like to paint the hull above and below the waterline (same paint--the boat will not sit in the water). Can anyone suggest an appropriate coating for this kind of application? Thanks. Tom

I built a small wooden sailboat, encapsulated with fiberglass, and painted with Rust-Oleum 206999 Marine Topside Paint. It's readily available and inexpensive. I like it and would use it again.

I hope this helps,

Tom - FWIW, I used regular Rustoleum in a spray can (dark blue) for accent stripes. I just masked off the stripes, lightly wet-sanded the area to be sprayed, and sprayed. It worked well and looks good.

Best of luck, Thomas

Good tip, Thomas. I'll keep that in mind. I wouldn't mind having shear stripe that sort of matches the one on my bigger boat (a 17 foot sailboat is bigger [/U]than a 10 footer??)

Thanks for the tips sailors. I'll check out the Interlux product, but I'm sure they're wanting an arm and a leg for it. We'll see. The dinghy isn't a pristine boat, but I like fooling with it and I'd like it to be...presentable. Anyways, thanks again. t
