Patching of a pinhole on a one yr. old Zodiac using the mfg. repair kit and following instructions to the letter resulted in the tube still leaking. Any suggestions for removing the existing patch to "start over"??? Forgive me if this is a repeat question...I did search the forums before posting. Thanks in advance.

What type of glue and hyperlon / rubber?

some glues are heat sensitive and will soften when heated and allow removal of patch. But i am not sure of the hull / tube material and the 'heat resistance it might have'. supplier should know! they must have similar issues from time to time.

I take it you are certain it is still leaking from the same spot. Are the edges of the current patch peeling up at all? If it were me I'd fill in the areas that may have lifted with adhesive and try placing a new slightly larger patch over the old one making sure it has been cleaned well (with an alcohol pad) before applying the new patch. I'd make sure the edges are flat and a have a liberal amount of glue applied. Be sure to apply pressure over the the whole patch to make sure all the glue will adhere to the entire patch and the edges are tight. Remove any excess adhesive that may ooze from under the patch. I have had this same thing happen to me with my cataraft and this is what I did to fix it since there was no way the first patch was going to come off without tearing the pontoon and making an even larger hole.

Hope this helps.
