So what caused that? There seems to be lots of zinc. Why is it localized instead of more distributed? The strut looks pinkish, which could just be the picture - is it electrically active?
The anode in the pic had just been installed. Again, the boat had been untouched for two years. This is typically due to stray current corrosion.

Isn't it unusual for the stainless steel shaft to dissolve before the bronze prop? Or am I totally wrong in thinking softer metal would go first?
