I have read all the old threads and would just like to update if anyone has any first hand knowledge/specific thoughts on the above. I have checked for an owners site with no luck so if someone could direct me that would be great.
We keep coming back to this boat for our liveaboard/cruising plan for size (in the 40-45ft range) price, layout (large centreline queen aft with bunks and V forward - good option for having a children and guests) and cockpit with twin helm (this suites us well for a Carribean/Sea of Cortez liveaboard) and capacity (up to 200 gallon of water) Draft is appropriate at 6'4. Designer seems to be held in very high regard.
So far we have read very good reviews (independant or not is another story
)
Main concerns are:
1. Comfort at sea - the stats I have read (ie displacement to LWL etc) seem to indicate that this boat should be more comfortable at sea than most production type boats its size?
2. Dealer support - Im just curious how many boat specific brand parts there are and how much of a concern this is. Arent most after market parts such as winches, windlasses, electrical systems, engines widely available..Im just wondering how much weight should be applied to this but there are two US dealers for Elan.
3. Possible the Volvo saildrive just because they are new to me.
If you or someone you know has first hand knowledge or experiance with this brand and model I welcome your comments.
Thanks again in advance...
