Someone once said, "never complain, never explain". Probably decent advice. Still, i read these various posts and cant help but enter the fray once again. My guess is that ones "filter", through which life is viewed, causes one to see what one desires to see. With that in mind i offer the folowing: i stand by my initial post. The words were chosen for a reason. Some who read my words caught my intent spot on. Others ascribed prejudice and sexism where none exists nor was spoken. Again, saying more about themselves , and their prism than about myself.
Women are capable of navigation, repair, etc etc etc. My post said nothing to indicate otherwise. Men are capable of buying fifty pair of shoes. Some women enjoy sailing and ALL it entails. Most do not. Most men do not enjoy shoe shopping. Are men going to take offense to that statement. I doubt it.
One can have respect for accomplishent of all endeavor, buy whatever sex made the accomplishment, and still hold the opinion that the sexes , for the most part enjoy different endeavors. That, my sailing friends isnt back peddeling. Its just facts.
Now, as to my carefully chosen words ,"good woman". More than one reader caught my drift. Why do we as men, think a woman is going to jump out of her life and hop on a boat with us for an extended period? I suppose it has happened. But likely, the good woman we seek, is not remotely interested in such posts. Until a relationship exists. And even then, only if she is one of the rare women who enjoy not only sailing but living on a boat.
So, i stick by my post. And double down. Like the rumored to exist holy grail, a good woman who is going to answer such posts and who enjoys sailing for more than a couple of hours, is a rumor, a rarity. Get a cat. And find one who can install an impellor, steer a course, fix the tiller pilot, repair fiberglass. Then, make sure you are also up to those task, else the cat will jump ship. Better yet, learn all those things together, then post an ad seeking priest wanted for wedding ceremony. Then go shoe shopping.
