First day on the water. Lets see. Took me 1 hour to put the engine in the water, 30 minutes to start it, an hour to figure out it works. Then right on a small corridor of deep water the motor went out of gear and i ran a ground. I am so stupid that i didnt realize that i was already anchored with the keel that i dropped an anchor on top of that. After an hour I called Michael (Ferretchaser) the man dropped what he was doing to come and rescue me. Then, a guy with a dinghy came long blonde hair kind of hipster, said why dont u pull the keel up? He sailed that boat to bahamas before since a friend had it. So of course i didn't manage to pull it up at all. But he pushed me out and then after 5-6 attempts to put the mainsail up i finally did with my wife. After that we met Michael where he escorted us to the entrance of the river.
We managed very good to sail it to our destination. Then i dropped the big anchor for the mooring after i left my wife at the dock. After about a dozen of unsuccessful attempts i realized that the hook that comes with the boat has the hook broken. I started getting upset, angry been afraid, Then i have this idea to grab the mooring ball with a line. So the mooring line ended up tied under the boat. More scared more frustrated. I asked for help from a boater. He basically told me that 1) the boat is probably going to be ok like this. 2) why am here and they will come and tow me because i need a permit. 3) I have no right been on the water. 4) he said "i am trying to sell my boat so i will take someone for a test and i will come but i will not tow u." 5) he went out to the dock and started cursing and saying all these things about me and that i should not have bough a boat. My wife as a result left in tears. Michael called ( i didnt even have a cell phone) my wife if everything went well and he RUN with his to help. He basically saved me multiple times today. A thank you is not enough. I really owe him.
Michael and Linda thank you.
My first experience was good only to the point of the actual sail. It was really bad for me at the end. Really bad.
