I'm very happy my new 3/4" through hull valves to not leak a drop!

Next time it's out, attach an anode to it. That stopped a lot of recurring maintenance to my iron keel.

Next time get yourself a DA. Much easier. I even use mine to prep glass between layups.

36 grit on the RO worked well I never planned on completely stripping it just the loose paint and the rust spots that I'm sure will be back again next year if I don't sell the boat

Do you have an electric DA? I’d like to have a DA, but my compressor doesn’t make enough air to run one. And, it’s not very portable. If there’s a good electric DA, I’d love to know more info.

Do you have an electric DA? I’d like to have a DA, but my compressor doesn’t make enough air to run one. And, it’s not very portable. If there’s a good electric DA, I’d love to know more info.

I shouldn't have said anything. My Harbor Freight DA is finally sputtering out after refitting almost 70' of boats including cutting 5' out of the middle of the deck of the Dyer 29 and rebuilding and re-glassing it. I made some valve backing plates out of West System, biax and 1/2" ply today and she gave up the ghost. I'll have the Kid send another one down. I prefer it over a grinder for subsequent layups (with heavy grit paper). Harbor Freight. Cheap and disposable. I prefer hook and loop.
