If that's all you need it to do, and don't want to expand it in future (or want features such as true/apparent wind) then it would be fine. If not, I'd look for something with NMEA2000 compatibility.

The NASA Marine wind instruments are of quite good quality. The back-up from the makers is one of the best - albeit in the UK.

My wind head lost the vane and cups during last winter. NASA replaced the lower casing that included the cups and refitted a new vane unit for a very reasonable GB£35.

They also produce a head unit with NMEA output.
