How do I determine what the right line is for my main sheets and jibs? I have a 1976 Aquarius sailboat and I am not quite sure what I need to do to find the right length, abrassiveness, type of rope to buy. Please help if you know. Thanks

Depends upon what size your tackle is on the boat. But probably 3/8 inch diameter will work ok if your boat is less than 30 ft.
Almost any polyester (not polyproplyne or nylon) will work for average cruising.

For jib sheets, get a length equal to about one and a half boat lengths (about 38 ft for a 25 foot boat). A "fuzzy" braid type line like Regatta works pretty good.
For the mainsheet the length will depend upon your existing tackle. If you don''t have an existing mainsheet to compare, get spool of small stuff and thread it through the tackle. Then push the boom out until it contacts the shrouds. This should tell you the length you would need to buy.

Hope this helps.
