Fire broke out this afternoon at Shelter Bay Marina, near La Conner along the Swinomish Channel, engulfing between 12 and 20 boats as fire crews struggled to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to other docks
Everyone OK?

Ray?

Saw this on the news last night, immediately wondered about Nikko.. (Ray and Sandy)

Pictures looked like the damage may have been less than the story indicated, unless it had spread from that point.

Nikko is okay. Shelter Bay is shaped like a three leaf clover. Nikko is in the middle leaf while the fire was contained to one dock in a lower leaf. We have friends on that dock that lost their boats though. One ran down and got there just in time to see a fireman retreat from trying to untie his boat as the boat next to him catch on fire followed by his boat. No cause yet. Salvagers are down their today with a barge, crane and the whole thing is boomed off. They did a good job containing the ppollutants. We thought about going out to Hope Island overnight yesterday, but went for a hike instead. Had we left, we wouldn't be able to get back to our slip today because of the booms. My mom could see the smoke from Camano Island yesterday and called us with the breaking news. We were a little anxious for a while. No injuries, so that was good news

Ray - Glad to hear that you and Nikko are OK. So sorry about the others. I assume no one was hurt.
