I hope someone out there can help me. I am would like to install two deepcycle 6volt golf cart batteries on my boat and I was wondering how far can I tilt them before the plates are exposed. The ones I am installing are Westmarine mod.# 8l16. They are very tall. And as my boat has a large rig, the toe rails are in the water often.

Any help would be appreciated.

Normally this is expressed as an angle and you should be able to email West Marine and get an answer. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/commerce/command/ExecMacro/home.d2w/report

And then pick product advice.

Good luck

I wouldn''t worry about it. Keep them topped up to the recommended level and they will work fine. You would have to spend a significant percentage of the time at angles of over 40 degrees and even then the percentage of plates exposed would be minimal.

Golf carts are designed to negotiate some pretty steep slopes too.
