I have an old (80's) Yanmar that is still running strong. I think raw water is a terrible thing to do to a nice motor and always feel a little guilty. I'm thinking about buying a radiator flush kit and installing the hose hook up in the Rraw water intake line, in front of the filter. I could then flush the motor with fresh water before shutting it down. Is this a reasonable idea, will it make any difference?

I have heard this would reduce sea growth inside the engine.

No different from the freshwater flush on outboards. I'm surprised, actually, that RWC engines don't come with a flushout port built-in. Go for it. The worse that can happen is nuthin'!
