After an exhaustive search I discovered why my pressurized water sytem was not delivering any water to my fauscets, the jabsco 1/2 high pressure valve located 3 inches from the manifold and before the electric pump and accummilator tank was completely clogged. I am wondering if I even need a high presure valve. I do not hook up pressurized city water to my boat at the marina. I have a regular check valve with screen before the pump. Would appreciate to hear from others.

if you don't keep city water connected then no you don't need a high pressure valve.

BUT, I don't understand why a HP valve clogging would stop your water system from working. Where does the other end of that valve go? To your tank? If so I'd say you have some funky plumbing. Most people don't pressurize the entire tank system, and put the HP valve BEFORE the tanks.

Thank you for your reply. The high pressure valve is between the tank and the pressure pump. I have three tanks with hoses running to a manifold. After the manifold there is a tee fitting with one hose, with a HP valve, going to the pressure pump and another hose, with a HP valve, going to the foot pump at the galley sink.

It's possible we're talking about different things.

A check valve in that spot would make a lot more sense than a pressure regulator.

Sorry for the confusion, it is a Jabsco 34344-0000 and they call it a high pressure 1/2" check valve. I am thinking about replacing it with a in-line strainer.

Yeah, well you should have a strainer before the pump. the check valve keeps water from flowing backwards into the tanks, you can go without pretty safely as long as your heads aren't fresh water flush (and if they are, that's still a weird place for a check valve)

Perhaps the check valve is there to help keep the pump primed. Is the pump by any chance elevated above the tanks, or even part way up? If so, you may loose prime when the tanks are low.
