Fuel level sender

I'd like to add a fuel gauge to my boat.

My tank does not have a sender, but it does have an unused port, 1" NPT, with a blanking plug installed

It is perfect for a dipstick actually (probably the reason that no previous owner installed a gauge). Senders that I have found are either a standard SAE 5 hole mounting flange, or 1 1/2" NPT screw in.

Is there a sender that would screw directly into that 1" existing fitting?

hmm, I see the issue. I looked for a reducer but they are all a reverse of what you need. What kind of access do you have?

He would need to go from 1-1/2 inch FNPT, to a 1 inch MNPT.

I was thinking that you could possibly tap in a larger 1 1/2" NPT hole but a 5-inch clearance is pretty tight. It's never easy!

Bob, Check these guys out. FPI Sensors Single Level Config Spec sheet_1.indd

Looks like they will build to order. Cut sheet shows a one inch NPT thread in option. Though it could be $$ They are in Texas.

Maybe I am misunderstanding something...he says the tank has a 1" opening with a 1" MPT plug in it. So he needs to bush that 1" FPT opening down to 1/2". Where does the 1-1/2" come in?

The Sensors have a 1 1/2 " thread. Not a 1/2"

IOW, he has a 1" hole, and needs a 1 1/2" hole. ( NPT)
