Is anyone heading over to the Georgetown Cruising Regatta in Georgetown, Exuma Bahamas this week/weekend? It looks like there will be some great wind for the regatta events!

I will also be giving a seminar at St. Francis Resort on Friday at 2pm. I'll be teaching cruisers how to use Navionics for planning routes, tracking, saving waypoints, syncing between devices, SonarCharts, SonarCharts Live, and lots more! I'll also be doing free giveaways so don't miss it!

As part of the regatta events we will be giving racers an extra opportunity to win prizes. Anyone that records sonar data while sailing (| Navionics) and submits it to Navionics (online) will be entered to win a free transducer + wifi producer unit called a Vexilar T-box.

Has Navionics incorperated Explorer charts for the Bahamas yet?
Doesn't sound like it...

Someone was asking about Navionics Bahamas updates

I don't remember who - it was a couple of weeks ago. I've been in touch with Navionics and they say they've made significant improvements in the northern Bahamas. But the old chip I have was fine for the Abacos. They have an on line "webapp" you can use to see what their latest data looks like. I took a look at Salt Pond, Long Island, where we are now. There are still no soundings at all. I assume they've done nothing to improve their charts for the central Bahamas where they're useless or worse than useless.

Navionics uses sonar data from boaters liked you and me as well as government data and data collected from their own surveyors to constantly improve the charts. Any boater can record their sonar data while cruising and upload it using the Navionics website (Want better charts? Go boating! | Navionics) or you can use your smart device with a Vexilar tbox which redraws the map real time behind you (SonarCharts Live). I'll be discussing all of this at the seminar.

I hope you can join me!
