Say the guys with their noses in their chartplotters.
It's a drifting time, people are fascinated by screens,
No idea what's on the other side.
We stare at doom like an uptight groom,
And live our lives like a drunken bride.
Tonight I feel something on the wind,
Deep inside where we have to die or kill.
Something I know I didn't know I knew,
I learned from Billy from the hills

True story from the days of the marine operator. You made a collect call, via the marine operator, to your home. How old does one need to be to remember the marine operator? Geesh.

We were anchored in Long Island Sound (its been so many years I don't recall specifically) and overheard the guy immediately next to us make a call. He told his wife that conditions were too foggy to leave and he would have to stay the night. As you can see coming, it was a beautiful day.
Plus these days the wife can check the weather online. It is amazing how the technology has advanced from the Marine Operator Days. Heard another Marine Operator story about a Captain on a fishing trawler who made a call to his wife one night. He told her the catching was good and he might stay out trawling a few extra days.
There was a pause.
Then she said "Ok but, I'm going to have sex on Thursday you can be there or not.:D
