I have installed a number of the 741XS. Not a single complaint as of yet... The only grumblings were early on about networking two together but they chaged that with a software update...

They make for a nice size at the helm. Not too bulky but with a decent screen size...

I just bought a 721xs (which I believe is the same beast, but with slightly different basemap). I've yet to install it, but have played a little at home. So far it seems very good. Networking to my iPad is simple and easy. Display is as advertised. Touchscreen works fine in my limited dry-land testing. Menus are clear and easy to use.

So far, I likes it :).

Hey,

I have a slightly older unit, the 740S. I'm happy with it. I see that the 741 includes Special Sailing Features:

Supported sailing features include laylines, enhanced wind rose, heading and course-over-ground lines, true wind data fields and tide/current/time slider. Gauge displays are designed to provide important need-to-know information at a glance, including true and apparent wind angle, set and drift, true or apparent wind speed, horizontal or vertical graphs, and a data bar with customizable data fields.

Has anyone played with that and can comment on it? It sounds like it would be great for racing.

Thanks,
Barry

I'm planing on getting one too, to replace an aging Furuno 1623. Would love to hear more too.
Maine Sail, love the setup, very slick.
How sturdy are those clamp colars? Can you still hold on tight to the pedestal guard? Are you running an inner tube and then The clamps?
Thanks

Only issue with this is this is not a safe distance from the compass.
I think it needs to be 36".....

Yet the compass was swingable and professionally calibrated and a deviation card made. The vast majority of plotters are installed well within the non-safe distance yet most never have the compass professionally swung afterwards. This one was and it was the owners decision where to install it. I insisted on having it swung afterwards.

What does this service actually cost?
