Insurance policies usually have exclusions for "intentional acts", so the insurance claim would only be denied if there was evidence that he knew what he was doing. Intentional acts leading to insurance claims usually constitute insurance fraud, so the actor's insurance claim is not only denied, but he/she faces criminal felony charges with possible prison.
