Hello,
I am purchasing the above boat and there is apparently a vertical seam in the rudder that has leaked allowing water intrusion into the core.

Does anyone know anything about this probelm and what is involved with repairing it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not 100% sure that this applies to you, but some small older HRs have rudder attachment made from bronze which looks like this:

Sorry forgot to mention the remedy. We had exactly the same problem, water was coming from the middle of the rudder, looked like a blister. The groove around the fittings was filled with something that turned into a spongy stuff, which was very easy to remove and then we filled the groove again with thickened epoxy. Thanks Petr. I'll post some pictures I have from a haul last year next. In the third one you can kind of see the vertical seam. It looks like it might be different than your set up.

I contacted H-R and they do not have drawings any more but suggested if there is delamination I might have to have a shop fabricate a new rudder from the old one! Yikes!
