I know there's 100's of topics about this, but I did a search and came up with everything from AFOC to War in Iran :laugher

So, here's another smelly head topic..........except it's not, it's a I think my wife came up with a great idea, that seems to work.

It's seems no matter how hard we try or what product use to treat our tank with, you still get a faint odor :puke

so, me wife Sherri got this stuff she saw on TV called screaming bubbles Gel.......a little spot of gel just under the rim and that's it, it has lasted a week so far, haven't smelled any kind of odor at all except for the faint smell of this gel stuff

Thought I would pass this on, can't see this little gel spot doing any harm

Personally I use "head and Shoulders", not sure how well it would work under the rim of my hat tho! hmmmmmmmmmm

ok, not the head you were referring too? uh oh, it has started, first reply post is taking this in the wrong direction? OK, I will head to work then, off to fall city, unload truck, then to Vashion via WSF, then load bobcat/track hoe after transplanting a tree and a bush, then back to FC, then home, for a YC board meeting tonight, so you all can flame me in the mean time.......

Marty
PS
does this product have a web site? have a few odors in the head, but blaming it more on "OLD" pipe.

Hey Poopy, I do not understand... do you mean you smell an odor in the head before or after you use it? HEHE!

The only thing I have ever found that actually works and does not just mask the smell is Cl tablets. I have used them for some time now.

NOTE: This is not applicable to ANYONE with Aluminum or SS tanks!!!!

However, for those of us with plastic tanks, you should be fine. CHeck with your tank manufacturer first and don't blame CD no matter what.

Here is what you do:

1) Put a Strainer in-line on the raw water intake.

2) Buy the Cl tablets and CL with Teflon tablets. THe latter are simply to coat the rubber fittings to make them last longer.
3) Break them into one or two pices and drop them into the strainer. You shouldn't need the strainer basket, but if you do, you should NOT use the SS one. Only the plastic one.
4) Pump away!!

THis works because you have created an hostile environment for the microbes to grow (and die) in. You will be amazed at the difference. Unlike other things that simply mask the smell, this keeps it from forming in the first place and also keeps your bowl clean and helps to break up the wate. However, it will cause premature death to your rubber fittings and you will probably have to rebuild the head more often. I have gone about 2.5 years between rebuilds. But for a great smelling boat (and head) it is worth it to me!

PS Thanks for the tip, Poodeck!
