I've been busy hopping in, searching for answers and dashing back out to get my boat up and safely sailing this year. Today I signed up in order to thank you all. I've been out a total of 8 hours spaced over 3 days this season. Yesterday I put in five of those hours so I thank everyone here for information they've posted over the years. Your wisdom combined with the awesome help I've received at my yacht club kept me going until the bird could fly.
I am a "mature" newbie sailor. Last year my husband of 35 years finally bought me a sailboat at the Maritime Academy Auction...something I've wanted to own since I learned to sail in the Boston Community Sailing Program as a kid. He is not a sailor. Not at all. My priorities over the years as a wife and mother always excluded a sailboat purchase because we did have the family outboard, good for fishing and waterskiing which are things we all enjoyed. I am the only sailor in this threesome.
Lapwing is a 19 foot Stuart Mariner-1987 hull #4000. I look forward to reading more about things like trailering, adding running lights, choosing the right engine, etc. etc. We plan to trailer her to FL this winter.
Thank you all for being here.
