Greetings from Austin TX – After taking my ASA101 course, I purchased my first sailboat about a month ago. I was limited to the selection in my local area. While I did find many great deals on boat scattered across the U.S., I found that shipping a large boat over land is very expensive.

I ended up with a 1974 Ericson 29. So far the boat is proving to be a very solid vessel. I spend most of my free time sailing or working on the boat. My current project is pulling out the windows and resealing them.

I am sailing in my local lake for now, but I have plans to make it out to sea. I have a lot of work ahead of me, and I’m sure this site, with all of its members, will be a valuable resource.

I was going to post a link to me and my boat... but I am currently a zero, and I need a rep power of at least 2

Hi Chuck,
Good luck with your boat!
For me half the enjoyment is in the renovation, general tinkering, and seeing your boat improve.
My last boat looked so much bigger and prouder when I finally sold her, and it was all fun.
