Does anyone have an experience or thoughts about a Helms 27? Does anyone know if it has an encapsulated keel or bolt on? I assume they made a limited amount of boats, since there doesn't appear to be that much info out there.

Are you looking at one for sale?
If you are it should be easy to tell - lift the floorboards and if you see bolts and nuts the ballast will be external, if not it will be encapsulated.

I was debating on going and looking at one. I just couldn't find much information about it. Also, thanks for the links, I hadn't seen the 2nd one before.

At the top of the page click resources, then forums (Msg brds), and scroll down to the Helms board. The Helms 25 seems to be the most popular with the 24 and 27 not far behind. I'm sure some 27 owners will chime in and answer your questions.
