I was sailing yesterday and flipped my Vanguard 470 and when I was righting it the mast sheared off about half way up. What do I do????

Start calling local rigging companies in your area, find one you are comfortable with, learn more than you ever wanted to know about mast replacement, write a check and move forward with a new mast and a new education.

It seems like Vanguard/International and Laser boats are related. Couldn't you find a used Laser mast or equivalent?
You can have the mast repaired by a metal shop if you have both pieces but it will never be as strong or properly weighted.

I'm located in North FL, Ive been searching around a lot and Ive only really got a quote from Selden Mast and it was for 1100, I would like to try and get it cheaper. I thought Laser was similar to Vanguard as well, but I don't think Laser makes a 470? Any other companies I could try? Thanks!

If you broke a 470 mast, you need a 470 mast. Other masts will not fit the boat or the sails, and would be a waste of money. If you're just bopping around - not racing - you might be able to fix what you have by fitting a sleeve inside or outside of the two parts, so that everything does fit, but you will not be competitive. Getting the sleeve to fit properly - especially on such a small mast- may also be expensive. If it isn't fitted properly, the mast will likely break again. I'd also try the 470 class website: 470NA.org - 470 North America - Powered by SFN. The classified section there has an Elvstrom mast & boom for sale that was listed yesterday. Other racers may have an old mast they'd be willing to part with to a sailor in need. You may have to go get it, or have it shipped, but it's bound to be less pricey than a new mast.

I did that when I sailed for Villanova back in '78. It was Temple's boat and they weren't happy.

Don't try to straighten it. We tried, but it doesn't work.
