While the mast is down, I would like to replace the masthead sheaves. they are "OK" but seems this is the time to do it regardless. The masthead has 4 sheaves, 2 forward and two aft. each pair run on an axle pin. The masthead is welded to the top of the mast so it cannot be removed to access the sheaves. I beleive that I need to remove the axle pin and the sheaves will come out.

There is a cover that contains the pins, remoing the cover I can see the pin end. the cover is not attached (welded or screwed) to the pin)

the pin is visible on the side of the mast but only on the starboard side so I cant drive the pin out. the pin does not pass through the mast.

the pin is flush with the mast so I dont see a way to grab it to pull it out.

How do I remove the pin so that I can replace the sheaves?

In the picture you can see the stainless steel cover removed and moved up out of the way. you can see a pin end between the small block and the cover. the other pin is just out of view.

yes I've seen them where the pin is welded to the cover plate, so removing the plate pulls the pin out.

I suppose my next attempt will be to drill ...
