I found a howmar twelve locally. Looks like a fun little daysailer. I also found a Catalina expo 12 as well. It's much newer and has a roller furling sail where as the homar has a lateen sail.

The two boats are quite different. The Howmar seems a bit more substantial, with higher freeboard and more comfortable seating. The Catalina looks more like a beach toy. Both boats feature a single sail with neither of the rigs looking too complicated. The Howmar looks like it has a bigger sail, which could be useful if you have light wind in your area. What you want to do with the boat will determine which is best for you.
