on my 29', the Hull ID is hidden but visible inside the port locker in the cockpit. I had to hang my head in there with a flashlight and look up inside the locker to see it. It was almost at the hull/deck joint and written on the hull itself, and not the transom. Maybe the 25 is the same?
HINs were only required beginning in 1972, so it may or may not be there. If it is there, look on the starboard side of the transom for a small inset rectangular panel.
That said, the hull number listed in your registration is about right for a 1971 Cal 25. Good bet that's the correct hull number.
