I didn't understand a word he said, but that thing was hauling! Cool design. Loks like they keep crew on the outter hulls to adjust the "keels".

Cool video.

Holy crap - that's insane! Had the grinder at 0:42 been able to crank that thing connected to the propeller a little faster, they would have hit 52 easy.

At 51 knots on that boat I dare say there is just as much noise without engines.

When and where did they do this? She was sailing on San Francisco Bay last year and I'd heard they were going to try to break the TransPac speed record. As to sound, the small America's Cup cat, Artemis, was out the other day on its foils. It sounds like a giant wind farm....

She's been sitting in San Pedro for a while. I was going to ask when they were going to make the run to Hawaii, but I haven't seen anyone on the boat for a while.

What is amazing to me is the flatness of the water. They had to be out in very strong winds - maybe 30+ knots, but there are no waves of note. Of course as they accelerate the apparent wind continues to go up, but there must be some minimum wind speed to get going fast enough.
