Would a philanthropic Sailnetter with a true and earnest interest in helping a moderator (and others, for science you know) do me a favor??
I was given a awesome pair of Binoculars for Christmas by mom and dad (hehe, kinda snuck it in his order form when he was buying some stuff and told myself merry Christmas). It is the $600-700 Fuji's. THey are awesome. I have come to love the binocs. My other pair is the cheaper ones, but they are not quite as clear.
But here is my dilemma (sp??): I have kids. Kids like to drop (or throw) expensive things overboard. I think they do it to get a reaction from their old man. These binocs are supposed to float with the neck strap and not get water intrusion. If they do not float, I will keep my cheaper pair topside. But I simply have not been able to bring myself to throw them overboard to see.
So would a kinder and richer member here please try throwing their Fuji's over for me (THEIR FUJI'S.... NOT MINE... DON'T GO THERE)? It needs to be a real test - not a swimming pool or shallow water. THe boat must be moving at hull speed. They must be thrown. Deeper the water, the better.
If they do float, you have lost nothing and gained the fine respect and admiration of a great griller. If they don't float, I guess I will throw out a Sailnet coupon to ya for 5% OFF or so. You can get yourself a new pair of binocs at a bargain and your wife will understand... really, she will.
Thank you for your help. Pictures must be posted.

PS I also need the same experiment run on a handheld vhf. THere is a group buy going on right now in case they sink. Again, I promise you, the wife will understand. Tell her it's just money and this is science and such.
