An appropriate use of federal funds would seem to be a thorough dredging of the ICW, especiallly through Georgia where boats with drafts greater than four foot can only transit during mid- to high-tide. With the stimulus package rolling through Congress, it's gotta happen... right?

NC, especially southeastern NC, is also in pretty serious need of maintenance dredging in the ICW. Corps of Engineers budget for dredging has been cut to nothing in this part of the state.

Hog,

Unfortunately, the $4.19 billion originally planned for dredging has been diverted to ACORN, for "neighborhood stabilization activities." ;)

In all seriousness, this is something that Boat/US should be all over. If they aren't, they've really dropped the ball.

I was thinking the same thing. Of all the things for the feds to waste money on, here's something that would actually put a lot of people to work and make the country more efficient in the future. The only folks in the industry who are against it would be Sea Tow...
