All;
I'm a US Citizen living in Chicago, and I'm considering the purchase of a used trailerable boat in Toronto, and driving it back to Chicago.
I'm having trouble finding definitive answers about what paperwork I will be required to present at the border about the vessel, in terms of documentation of purchase, import fees, etc.
I understand that if the boat was made in North America (it was) that I pay no import duties.
However, I would like to avoid a long wait or hassle at the border, and I am hoping to find some definitive information about what I'll need to do.
On a related topic, does anyone have a recommendation for a customs broker that would be familiar with this kind of problem that I could hire to make sure it's smooth sailing for me, so to speak?
Thanks,
Steve
