I am contemplating replacing my 25 year old Data marine instruments and Northstar Loran. I was planning on a Raymarine set up, with the ST60+ instruments located over the companion way and a C80 chart plotter and radar located at the helm.
The installation manuals from Raymarine say not to mount any of the above within 3 feet of the compass, which is clearly impractical.
Anyone have any thoughts, data, experience they would like to share on this set up and its location? Problems encountered or things to be aware and careful of?

Thanks,
Paul

I've had my Ray/Radar Chartplotter hanging on a swing bracket off my binnacle in my last two boats. Just put some ferrites on the wiring and NO problems with the compass. It is great having it right there at the helm.
