I've perused a number of insurance related threads and found nothing about insurance for single handlers.

I expect to sail to the Bahamas from FL. In Nov. single hand.

Advise for ins. Please.

Singlehanding on a good boat in open ocean is far safer than spending the same amount of time in a big city, dodging traffic.

I second Auspicious recommendation. I have found IMIS to be a very reliable source of information.

Beware there is one company that will insure single-handers on any boat without a survey and the consensus is that they are a scam.

Can you tell us who this company is?

I third the recommendation!

I used Al last year when I was heading into the USA and needed Liability Insurance for my 6 month stay. He came up with a great policy at an affordable price. Of course I never made a claim on it.

If I needed more insurance anywhere I would call him first.

He is the only guy who appeared to be activly interested in fighting to get a policy that fit me.
