In the short time my boat has been on the water these little gadgets the PO made and put on the boat have been the topic of conversation around the marina. I've had at least a dozen people ask me about them.

It gives you two cleating options and a place for a cold drink...

They are made out of metal and I think powder coated...It may give someone an idea for a small winter project and yes, there's one on each side :laugher

pretty slick! I've often agonized ( especially my knees) about the winch location on my boat.

The best ideas are often simple and elegant! My only concern is the forward outboard corner of each plate; it may have been better if the PO had made the angle obtuse instead of square - like the aft edge - so that people, lines and other things do not snag on it.

It appears that the plate was added because the (dodger?) rails on the upper left side of the photo obstructed the genoa sheet. A wider angle view of the cockpit might reveal a way to correct the placement of those rails so that the winch can be properly positioned.
