I am new to sailnet. I live in Gainesville, FL and keep my 43 ft Moorea sailboat in Palm Beach Gardens, FL (just north of Palm Beach on Florida's East Coast). My wife and I have sailed both coasts of Florida and the northern Bahamas in trailable sailboats. We have sailed the Moorea, which we purchased new in 1984, around Florida, the Bahama Islands and once to the Yucatan. I look forward to exchanging ideas and experiences with other members of Sailnet.

We are in the process of deciding whether to put money into the Moorea for needed repairs or to sell and purchase a newer boat.

Hello Knothead (great name!)

We have teak decks and after all these years we have leaks in the cabin. We love the boat, the way it performs, the room below deck, etc. but I am afraid the cost of replacing the teak decks will be too much for our budget. I recall seeing booths at boat shows where the company will replace the teak deck with fiberglass with non-skid sections but do not recall the name of the company or the cost of such an operation. If anyone is familiar with this procedure and/or knows the name of the company I would appreciate the information.
