There are a few other threads on here that discuss this, but does anyone have a good idea of all the differences between a J37 and 37c? I know engines are mounted in different places.

Are there other material differences? Does the J37 have a larger cockpit? How much larger?

I am interested in these boats or at least the J37c. I would not pretend to be an expert on them, but I think the main differences are the engine placement, the draft, and a more 'lush' interior in the C version. The J37 is slightly faster but I suspect this would be going to weather only because of the deeper keel.

J-37C: Based on the std. J/37 but a longer coach roof, modified interior (larger galley, etc.), larger anchor well and engine re-postioned aft. Also available with a winged 'UFO' keel. (Draft:5.2')

The hulls and layouts appear otherwise very similar..

Longer coach roof on the J37c probably translates into smaller cockpit. I wonder how much smaller..

I have only been on a J37c so can't make a direct comparison. We are looking for a boat for a couple with up to 6 people for daysails, the 37c seemed perfectly adequate for that.

The J37 and J37C are really two slightly different versions of the same boat. JBoats even merges the hull numbers of the two. See the bottom of this link to the JBoats website.

My neighbors looked at both last summer, and were surprised in thinking the 37 is better overall for a family.
They just took delivery of a C&C 34++.
