Hi. We were looking around the Orlando, Merritt Island/Space Coast areas for information on marinas that allow liveaboards. We''re not new to boating, but new to the idea of living aboard a yacht as our primary home. We have lots to learn, and we wondered if anyone had ideas on rates, conditions, etc? There are a number of marinas over on the space coast. Kennedy Point is one - its in Titusville...has a fantastic view of the launches from the Cape....but in a Nor''Easter I wouldn''t necessarily want to be there.

There is a marina down on Eau Gallie area, I think it is the Talisman Marina....or something like that. Pretty good neighborhood around it and lots of conveniences.

To my knowledge (a caveat here- don''t rely on it...cuz I haven''t been over there for a while) there isn''t much in the way of liveaboard facilities over there....but even still check with the marinas out around the Cape..there are several. In fact there are a bunch of them on the ICW. Also....the Titusville City Marina is pretty decent and it has floating docks...stayed there as a transient a few years ago...staff was real nice. Not a bad facility either.

Maybe someone from over there will pop up and add to this.

I just left there. I stayed on my boat at Cape Marina so I could go sailing without the hassle of going through the barge canal. It was fairly cheap but the marina there likes to think they are a powerboat marina and let you know it although they will still take your money.

There are also several good marinas in the Daytona Beach area, especially Halifax Harbor. It is city owned but they were smart enough to hire a contractor to run it and it is a really super marina.

DB is really about the same distance from Orlando as Melbourne/Cocoa Beach/Eau Gallie area.... Just a thought.

I found my old notes, and here is the name of a good liveaboard marina in the Melbourne/Eau Gallie area....Tallimar Bay, prices were reasonable....Phone number is: 321-773-2468.
Its a deep water marina that can handle some pretty big boats. We checked it out in case our son brought his 62'' deep draft boat around from CA. This was about the only Marina that could handle his size.

We live aboard at Tellamar Marina in Indian Harbour Beach, Fl. Which is the one everyone is referring to. Suggest you negotiate an annual rate with the marina since that would be less expensive. It''s the best protected, best location near shopping, and a very safe neighborhood.

Telamar is great but I have found decent place in Merritt Island across the bridge
from Cocoa. Better prices and still have
access to deep water areas of the ICW.
