Sailing to the outer banks this July and would like any information or tips on transient slips, moorings or anchorages around Corrola. Also is there any good anchorages below the 158 bridge in the Kitty Hawk area?
You can tie up at Town of Manteo Docks for free for 24 hours AND there is an anchorage that is good right off the docks in Shallowbag Bay. Transient slips are also available.
Link: Manteo - North Carolina, United States
In the picture you can see a boat entering Shallowbag Bay from the sound. On the left about 2/3 up you can see a creek which is where the marina and docks are. anchorage is just before the entrance to the creek.
Very shoal up near the 158 bridge. If you don't have a catamaran...you don't want to be in there. You could probably wiggle into Kitty Hawk Bay if you draw LESS than 4ft.
I am renting a house for a week in Corrola while we are there. I am looking for a inexpensive placed to keep the boat while I'm there. Is there any moorings available or safe anchorages. I have a Bristol29.9 that draws 4.5 feet.
The safe anchorage is in shallowbag bay. No moorings. Pretty far from Corolla ...about 20 miles by car. Nowhere else.
Marina Manteo Waterfront Marina in North Carolina, United States would run $45 a night if you do not feel safe at anchor.
