Well after living in St Thomas for a little over a year Deb and I are getting a little more serious about buying a boat again. We have decided that given the work schedules we aren't going to buy a liveaboard right now. So we have been trying to figure out what to buy that we can bang around on for weekend trips and a few weeks a year of cruising in the USVI's, BVI's and SVI's. For now that is likely the cruising ground. Given that we aren't going to tie up a hundred grand in a boat for part time use. The boat we are currently interested in is a 1995 35 Oceanis. I am pretty sure it is an x-sunsail boat. The current owner has been living aboard for a couple of years and has now left the boat. It was hauled last month acid washed, buffed and bottom painted here locally. It is aggresively price and likely will get even cheaper. What I am looking for is real world experience with the boats. If you want to bash Beneteau just to bash don't bother. As most know I work in the charter business and understand first hand the limitations and condition of charter boats so that doesn't bother me either. One variable I don't have any experience with is this boat has a perkins engine, not the original. I will try to get some numbers, info on that tommorow as I am going back for a second look.
So any insight will be helpful. I know the boat and platform will do the basics of what we want.
