I am looking at purchasing a Buchan 37. My partner and I are planning for blue water sailing next year. I've been looking for information about the Buchan 37 design online, and have had a hard time finding much information. The boat we're looking at has some deck damage and needs some cosmetic work. Can anyone offer any info as to the sea-worthiness of this boat? Thanks!

These Seattle-built boats are regarded as classics by many.. and could well represent a good bang for the buck(an).. [sorry, couldn't resist]. When first built I believe they were on the "light" side by the standards of the day. I'm not sure they'd be what most would classify as a blue water boat.

I've seen well maintained beauties and, of course, neglected sad cases - watch out for that "incredible" deal... the boat may well be worth what you pay for it..
