Hello West Coast:

We are looking to relocate our 35’ 15,000lb sailboat, which we live on, from Alabama to the Pacific Northwest. No firm plans or dates yet but am considering trucking the boat from Mobile to somewhere in Washington around the end of June. While the mast is down some of the work includes replacing the standing rigging. Seems like doing that while stepping would be easiest for the rigger.

I am looking for recommendations on:

A boat shipper you’ve used.

A marina or yard to have the boat delivered to and a rigger to do some rigging work.

A marina to stay at for a couple of months.

Thanks

Where in the puget sound are you going to be coming to? If seattle proper, Probably one of the best, if not best is CSR marine. I've heard mixed results on Seaview. In Anacortes there is Marine Servicenter. Olympia has a yard that is not ringing a bell right now.......

As far as a marina goes, call around to the main ones. Some in the southern sound would have more summer open spots, as some folks move there boat north to the San juans for the summer, and sublet, or are gone for a month or two or three, and will sublet there spot.

Right now we are thinking Port Townsend, maybe using Port Townsend Rigging.

We looked at some Seattle Marinas a little more than a year ago and learned that there are few if any slips available and even fewer for extended, months at a time, stays. So we do expect to have to look off the beaten path.

Good idea about subletting I had forgotten about that option and I'll take a look at some southern marinas as I haven't really thought about them until now.

Thanks
