We have a 1994 26s (classic, not a power sailer) that we bought a year ago. We have trailered it several times for moderate distances (about 150 miles to the two lakes we sail)behind an Explorer and, recently, an Expedition. Trailer is standard single-axle but we had some side rails and a v-brace welded on to make cross-wind recovery easier. Behind the Explorer, we didn''t feel comfortable traveling beyond around 55 on the interstate; we had enough pulling power but didn''t feel completely stable when crosswinds or quartering tailwinds hit the boat. Fiddling with weight distribution might have helped us a bit, but getting a beefier towing vehicle has helped us quite a bit. We''re not racers or "high performance" sailers, so maybe someone else could address sailing performance, tuning, etc. better... maybe try macgregorowners.com, etc.A couple we met trailered their 26X from New Mexico to Puget Sound and spent a couple of months poking around there.
