Have a friend with a 27ft mk1, who is having a problem with his sail 'slugs' coming out of the track when he drops the main. Is this 'normal' on a mk1, for the slug opening to be more that a couple of in. long? He said if he puts a stop in the track, he'll not be able to lower the main all the way onto the boom. Any of you have a 27' mk1???? Thanks.

I don't know on his particular boat, but mine was that way. If I dropped it completely flat, the slugs fell out the track. I did put a stop in, and while the front of the main is held up 9 inches on up, my cover still fits it, and it makes raising it so much simpler when soloing. For me, definitely an advantage.

I had a little plastic flap that came across the gap and stopped the slugs coming out, until I managed to snap it off climbing on the boom. Now have a stop instead, works fine, I can still drop the main, flake it and get the the cover on.
