Hello,
My Merc 3.3 won't stay running. It will start right up but then dies again.
I have tried to bleed the carburetor bowl and now I am guessing its a carburetor dismantle procedure next. Anybody out there with one of these
with similar problems.
Thanks a lot.

Could be a million things. What have you checked? Also, what's it like while running? Does it run for a couple of minutes and then die, or die almost right away? Does it run smoky? Does it miss some strokes?

Have you tried fresh gas? Fresh fuel line? I agree that it sounds like a fuel issue but you should check the other components before spending the time to dismantle the carb.

Mike, I have had 3.3s for years, and carb is responsible for 90% of problems I faced. In general, as it takes very little fuel on the go, vents, pipes, holes, etc are very small and very prone to clogg. If you hadn't taken your carb apart recently, that's worthwile to do so. This is an easy procedure. Like Adam say, take preventative measures too, like clean/fresh fuel. I've been happy with them since 1994 ...
