Last night I looked on active captain and couldnt find anything so I'm trying some other places (like here)

Does anyone know what happened to channel markers 1(G), 3(G),4(R),7(G) and 9(G) (On NOAA chart 11534), on the northern connector to Snows cut from the Cape Fear River.

They were there 3 weeks ago when I went that way, but were not there this past Sunday.

(For half-day sails I like to go up that channel, down the river and back up the southern one back to my marina)

Anyway I'm concerned that either they were damaged and are submerged (hazard) or that is no longer a maintained channel.

Re: Mssing Channel Markers in the Cape Fear?

Have you checked the relevant local notice to mariners? A lot of marks are pulled for the winter when they undergo painting and other maintenance.
I did, and didn't see anything except for Marker 4, which was labled TRUB/STRUCT DEST

I didn't see any buoys and that doesn't explain the rest

They were discontinued and the channel will no longer be maintained. As reported at WaterwayGuide.com on October 21:

On or about 05 November 2014, the Coast Guard will discontinue the following Aids to Navigation due to shoaling:

Wilmington Shortcut Daybeacon 1 (LLNR 39785)
Wilmington Shortcut Daybeacon 3 (LLNR 39790)
Wilmington Shortcut Daybeacon 4 (LLNR 39795)
Wilmington Shortcut Light 5 (LLNR 39800)
Wilmington Shortcut Daybeacon 7 (LLNR 39805)
Wilmington Shortcut Daybeacon 9 (LLNR 39810)
Wilmington Shortcut Light 10 (LLNR 39815)
Wilmington Shortcut Daybeacon 12 (LLNR 39820)

The channel has been shoaled so badly for the last 2-3 years that I could not get through safely with 4' draft. I'm with you it saved a nice bit when headed to Wilmington. There was minimal boat traffic except for small fishing boats. I would prefer they dredge and maintain the Carolina Beach Inlet....

This is a great example of an edit that should be added to the community edits on the Navionics charts. Whenever I find things like this I go into my Navionics map and add a community edit so that others will have the info available also.

Another example of..."you just can't get there from here"...
